Jesus said to his disciples: 'As it was in Noah's day, so will it be when the Son of Man comes. For in those days before the Flood people were eating, drinking, taking wives, taking husbands, right up to the day Noah went into the ark, and they suspected nothing till the Flood came and swept all away. It will be like this when the Son of Man comes. Then of two men in the fields one is taken, one left; of two women at the millstone grinding, one is taken, one left. 'So stay awake, because you do not know the day when your master is coming. You may be quite sure of this that if the householder had known at what time of the night the burglar would come, he would have stayed awake and would not have allowed anyone to break through the wall of his house. Therefore, you too must stand ready because the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

En aquel tiempo, dijo Jesús a sus discípulos:
«Cuando venga el Hijo del hombre, pasará como en tiempo de Noé.
Antes del diluvio, la gente comía y bebía y se casaba, hasta el día en que Noé entró en el arca; y cuando menos lo esperaban llegó el diluvio y se los llevó a todos; lo mismo sucederá cuando venga el Hijo del Hombre: Dos hombres estarán en el campo: a uno se lo llevarán y a otro lo dejarán; dos mujeres estarán moliendo: a una se la llevarán y a otra la dejarán.
Por tanto, estad en vela, porque no sabéis qué día vendrá vuestro Señor.
Comprended que si supiera el dueño de casa a qué hora de la noche viene el ladrón,
estaría en vela y no dejaría abrir un boquete en su casa.
Por eso, estad también vosotros preparados, porque a la hora que menos penséis viene el Hijo del Hombre.

«Sicut dies Noe, ita erit advéntus Fílii hóminis. Sicut enim erant in diébus ante dilúvium comedéntes et bibéntes, nubéntes et nuptum tradéntes, usque ad eum diem, quo introívit in arcam Noe, et non cognovérunt, donec venit dilúvium et tulit omnes, ita erit et advéntus Fílii hóminis. Tunc duo erunt in agro: unus assúmitur, et unus relínquitur; duæ moléntes in mola: una assúmitur, et una relínquitur.

Jesus said to his disciples: 'Be on your guard, stay awake, because you never know when the time will come. It is like a man travelling abroad: he has gone from home, and left his servants in charge, each with his own task; and he has told the doorkeeper to stay awake. So stay awake, because you do not know when the master of the house is coming, evening, midnight, cockcrow, dawn; if he comes unexpectedly, he must not find you asleep. And what I say to you I say to all: Stay awake!'

En aquel tiempo dijo Jesús a sus discípulos:
—Mirad, vigilad: pues no sabéis cuándo es el momento.
Es igual que un hombre que se fue de viaje, y dejó su casa y dio a cada uno de sus criados su tarea, encargando al portero que velara.
Velad entonces, pues no sabéis cuándo vendrá el dueño de la casa, si al atardecer, o a medianoche, o al canto del gallo, o al amanecer: no sea que venga inesperadamente y os encuentre dormidos.
Lo que os digo a vosotros, lo digo a todos: ¡velad!

Jesus said to his disciples: 'There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars; on earth nations in agony, bewildered by the clamour of the ocean and its waves; men dying of fear as they await what menaces the world, for the powers of heaven will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand erect, hold your heads high, because your liberation is near at hand.' 'Watch yourselves, or your hearts will be coarsened with debauchery and drunkenness and the cares of life, and that day will be sprung on you suddenly, like a trap. For it will come down on every living man on the face of the earth. Stay awake, praying at all times for the strength to survive all that is going to happen, and to stand with confidence before the Son of Man.'

En aquel tiempo, dijo Jesús a sus discípulos:
—«Habrá signos en el sol y la luna y las estrellas, y en la tierra angustia de las gentes, enloquecidas por el estruendo del mar y el oleaje. Los hombres quedaran sin aliento por el miedo y la ansiedad ante lo que se le viene encima al mundo, pues los astros se tambalearán.
Entonces verán al Hijo del hombre venir en una nube, con gran poder y majestad.
Cuando empiece a suceder esto, levantaos, alzad la cabeza: se acerca vuestra liberación.
Tened cuidado: no se os embote la mente con el vicio, la bebida y los agobios de la vida, y se os eche encima de repente aquel día; porque caerá como un lazo sobre todos los habitantes de la tierra.
Estad siempre despiertos, pidiendo fuerza para escapar de todo lo que está por venir y manteneros en pie ante el Hijo del hombre.

«Erunt signa in sole et luna et stellis, et super terram pressúra géntium præ confusióne sónitus maris et flúctuum, arescéntibus homínibus præ timóre et exspectatióne eórum, quæ supervénient orbi, nam virtútes cælórum movebúntur.
Et tunc vidébunt Fílium hóminis veniéntem in nube cum potestáte et glória magna. His autem fíeri incipiéntibus, respícite et leváte cápita vestra, quóniam appropínquat redémptio vestra.
Atténdite autem vobis, ne forte gravéntur corda vestra in crápula et ebrietáte et curis huius vitæ, et supervéniat in vos repentína dies illa; tamquam láqueus enim supervéniet in omnes, qui sedent super fáciem omnis terræ. Vigiláte ítaque omni témpore orántes, ut possítis fúgere ista ómnia, quæ futúra sunt, et stare ante Fílium hóminis».

When Jesus went into Capernaum a centurion came up and pleaded with him. 'Sir,' he said 'my servant is lying at home paralysed, and in great pain.' 'I will come myself and cure him' said Jesus. The centurion replied, 'Sir, I am not worthy to have you under my roof; just give the word and my servant will be cured. For I am under authority myself, and have soldiers under me; and I say to one man: Go, and he goes; to another: Come here, and he comes; to my servant: Do this, and he does it.' When Jesus heard this he was astonished and said to those following him, 'I tell you solemnly, nowhere in Israel have I found faith like this. And I tell you that many will come from east and west to take their places with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob at the feast in the kingdom of heaven.’

En aquel tiempo, al entrar Jesús en Cafarnaún, un centurión se le acercó rogándole:
—«Señor, tengo en casa un criado que está en cama paralítico y sufre mucho.»
Jesús le contestó:
—«Voy yo a curarlo.»
Pero el centurión le replicó:
—«Señor, no soy quien para que entres bajo mi techo. Basta que lo digas de palabra, y mi criado quedará sano. Porque yo también vivo bajo disciplina y tengo soldados a mis órdenes; y le digo a uno: "Ve", y va; al otro: "Ven", y viene; a mi criado: "Haz esto", y lo hace.»
Al oírlo, Jesús quedó admirado y dijo a los que le seguían:
—«Os aseguro que en Israel no he encontrado en nadie tanta fe. Os digo que vendrán muchos de oriente y occidente y se sentarán con Abrahán, Isaac y Jacob en el reino de los cielos.»

Audiens autem Iesus, mirátus est et sequéntibus se dixit: «Amen dico vobis: Apud nullum invéni tantam fidem in Israel! Dico autem vobis quod multi ab oriénte et occidénte vénient et recúmbent cum Abraham et Isaac et Iacob in regno cælórum».

It was then that, filled with joy by the Holy Spirit, Jesus said, 'I bless you, Father, Lord of heaven and of earth, for hiding these things from the learned and the clever and revealing them to mere children. Yes, Father, for that is what it pleased you to do. Everything has been entrusted to me by my Father; and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.' Then turning to his disciples he spoke to them in private, 'Happy the eyes that see what you see, for I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see, and never saw it; to hear what you hear, and never heard it'.

En aquel tiempo, lleno de la alegría del Espíritu. Santo, exclamó Jesús:
—«Te doy gracias, Padre, Señor del cielo y de la tierra, porque has escondido estas cosas a los sabios y a los entendidos, y las has revelado a la gente sencilla.
Sí, Padre, porque así te ha parecido bien.
Todo me lo ha entregado mi Padre, y nadie conoce quién es el Hijo, sino el Padre; ni quién es el Padre, sino el Hijo, y aquel a quien el Hijo se lo quiere revelar.»
Y volviéndose a sus discípulos, les dijo aparte:
—«¡Dichosos los ojos que ven lo que vosotros veis! Porque os digo que muchos profetas y reyes desearon ver lo que veis vosotros, y no lo vieron; y oír lo que oís, y no lo oyeron.»

Jesus reached the shores of the Sea of Galilee, and he went up into the hills. He sat there, and large crowds came to him bringing the lame, the crippled, the blind, the dumb and many others; these they put down at his feet, and he cured them. The crowds were astonished to see the dumb speaking, the cripples whole again, the lame walking and the blind with their sight, and they praised the God of Israel. But Jesus called his disciples to him and said, 'I feel sorry for all these people; they have been with me for three days now and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them off hungry, they might collapse on the way.' The disciples said to him, 'Where could we get enough bread in this deserted place to feed such a crowd?' Jesus said to them, 'How many loaves have you?' 'Seven' they said 'and a few small fish.' Then he instructed the crowd to sit down on the ground, and he took the seven loaves and the fish, and he gave thanks and broke them and handed them to the disciples who gave them to the crowds. They all ate as much as they wanted, and they collected what was left of the scraps, seven baskets full.

En aquel tiempo, Jesús, bordeando el lago de Galilea, subió al monte y se sentó en él.
Acudió a el mucha gente llevando tullidos, ciegos, lisiados, sordomudos y muchos otros; los echaban a sus pies, y el los curaba.
La gente se admiraba al ver hablar a los mudos, sanos a los lisiados, andar a los tullidos y con vista a los ciegos, y dieron gloria al Dios de Israel.
Jesús llamó a sus discípulos y les dijo:
—«Me da lastima de la gente, porque llevan ya tres días conmigo y no tienen qué comer. Y no quiero despedirlos en ayunas, no sea que se desmayen en el camino.»
Los discípulos le preguntaron:
—«¿De dónde vamos a sacar en un despoblado panes suficientes para saciar a tanta gente?»
Jesús les preguntó:
—«¿Cuántos panes tenéis?»
Ellos contestaron:
—«Siete y unos pocos peces.»
Él mandó que la gente se sentara en el suelo. Tomó los siete panes y los peces, dijo la acción de gracias, los partió y los fue dando a los discípulos, y los discípulos a la gente.
Comieron todos hasta saciarse y recogieron las sobras: siete cestas llenas.

Et accessérunt ad eum turbæ multæ habéntes secum claudos, cæcos, débiles, mutos et álios multos et proiecérunt eos ad pedes eius, et curávit eos, ita ut turba mirarétur vidéntes mutos loquéntes, débiles sanos et claudos ambulántes et cæcos vidéntes. Et magnificábant Deum Israel.
Iesus autem convocátis discípulis suis dixit: «Miséreor turbæ, quia tríduo iam persevérant mecum et non habent, quod mandúcent; et dimíttere eos ieiúnos nolo, ne forte defíciant in via».
Et dicunt ei discípuli: «Unde nobis in desérto panes tantos, ut saturémus turbam tantam?».
Et ait illis Iesus: «Quot panes habétis?».
At illi dixérunt: «Septem et paucos piscículos».
Et præcépit turbæ, ut discúmberet super terram; et accípiens septem panes et pisces et grátias agens fregit et dedit discípulis, discípuli autem turbis. Et comedérunt omnes et saturáti sunt; et, quod supérfuit de fragméntis, tulérunt septem sportas plenas.

Jesus said to his disciples: 'It is not those who say to me, "Lord, Lord", who will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the person who does the will of my Father in heaven. 'Therefore, everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on rock. Rain came down, floods rose, gales blew and hurled themselves against that house, and it did not fall: it was founded on rock. But everyone who listens to these words of mine and does not act on them will be like a stupid man who built his house on sand. Rain came down, floods rose, gales blew and struck that house, and it fell; and what a fall it had!'

En aquel tiempo, dijo Jesús a sus discípulos:
—«No todo el que me dice "Señor, Señor" entrará en el reino de los cielos, sino el que cumple la voluntad de mi Padre que está en el cielo.
El que escucha estas palabras mías y las pone en práctica se parece a aquel hombre prudente que edificó su casa sobre roca.
Cayó la lluvia, se salieron los ríos, soplaron los vientos y descargaron contra la casa; pero no se hundió, porque estaba cimentada sobre roca.
El que escucha estas palabras mías y no las pone en práctica se parece a aquel hombre necio que edificó su casa sobre arena. Cayó la lluvia, se salieron los ríos, soplaron los vientos y rompieron contra la casa, y se hundió totalmente.»

Omnis ergo, qui audit verba mea hæc et facit ea, assimilábitur viro sapiénti, qui ædificávit domum suam supra petram. Et descéndit plúvia, et venérunt flúmina, et flavérunt venti et irruérunt in domum illam, et non cécidit; fundáta enim erat supra petram.

And when Jesus reached the house the blind men came up with him and he said to them, 'Do you believe I can do this?' They said, 'Sir, we do'. Then he touched their eyes saying, 'Your faith deserves it, so let this be done for you'. And their sight returned. Then Jesus sternly warned them, 'Take care that no one learns about this'. But when they had gone, they talked about him all over the countryside.

En aquel tiempo, dos ciegos seguían a Jesús, gritando: —«Ten compasión de nosotros, hijo de David.»
Al llegar a la casa se le acercaron los ciegos, y Jesús les dijo:
—«¿Creéis que puedo hacerlo?»
Contestaron:
—«Sí, Señor.»
Entonces les toco los ojos, diciendo:
—«Que os suceda conforme a vuestra fe.»
Y se les abrieron los ojos. Jesús les ordenó severamente:
—«¡Cuidado con que lo sepa alguien!»
Pero ellos, al salir, hablaron de él por toda la comarca.

Jesus made a tour through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the Good News of the kingdom and curing all kinds of diseases and sickness. And when he saw the crowds he felt sorry for them because they were harassed and dejected, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, 'The harvest is rich but the labourers are few, so ask the Lord of the harvest to send labourers to his harvest'. He summoned his twelve disciples, and gave them authority over unclean spirits with power to cast them out and to cure all kinds of diseases and sickness, instructing them as follows: ‘Go rather to the lost sheep of the House of Israel. And as you go, proclaim that the kingdom of heaven is close at hand. Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out devils. You received without charge, give without charge.’

En aquel tiempo, Jesús recorría todas las ciudades y aldeas, enseñando en sus sinagogas, anunciando el Evangelio del reino y curando todas las enfermedades y todas las dolencias. Al ver a las gentes, se compadecía de ellas, porque estaban extenuadas y abandonadas, como ovejas que no tienen pastor. Entonces dijo a sus discípulos:
—«La mies es abundante, pero los trabajadores son pocos; rogad, pues, al Señor de la mies que mande trabajadores a su mies.»
Y llamando a sus doce discípulos, les dio autoridad para expulsar espíritus inmundos y curar toda enfermedad y dolencia.
A estos doce los envió con estas instrucciones:
—«Id a las ovejas descarriadas de Israel. Id y proclamad que el reino de los cielos está cerca. Curad enfermos, resucitad muertos, limpiad leprosos, echad demonios.
Lo que habéis recibido gratis, dadlo gratis.»

Circumíbat Iesus civitátes omnes et castélla, docens in synagógis eórum et praédicans Evangélium regni et curans omnem languórem et omnem infirmitátem. Videns autem turbas, misértus est eis, quia erant vexáti et iacéntes sicut oves non habéntes pastórem.
Tunc dicit discípulis suis: «Messis quidem multa, operárii autem pauci; rogáte ergo Dóminum messis, ut mittat operários in messem suam».
Et convocátis Duódecim discípulis suis, dedit illis potestátem spirítuum immundórum, ut eícerent eos et curárent omnem languórem et omnem infirmitátem. Hos Duódecim misit Iesus præcípiens eis et dicens:
«Ite ad oves, quæ periérunt domus Israel. Eúntes autem prædicáte dicéntes: «Appropinquávit regnum cælórum». Infírmos curáte, mórtuos suscitáte, leprósos mundáte, daémones eícite; gratis accepístis, gratis date».
